Description

I developed part of the design for this several months ago, but couldn't quite put it together until recently. It took about 18 hours total to finish.

This is both a beautiful concept, and a well executed one. The detail in each tiny section is simply amazing, and I know I would never have the patience to do this.

Obviously this is completely and entirely original- I dare you to prove me otherwise- and I love every square centimeter of it.
The technique here is brilliant- as you zoom in, the detail changes so dramatically and alters the look drastically. There is no shading here, yet the different shapes create an illusion of different color values, and trick the eyes in a most visually and mentally appealing way. My only suggestion would maybe clean up the overall proportions of the whiter space- the actual pinwheel is not completely symmetrical.

Overall, the impact I received from this piece wasn't outstanding- I was more impressed with the intricate style and depth than any emotional connection. The title is very appropriate, and I love the color warping (I don't really know how else to describe it! The way they are reflected over the center?). Again, I'm really impressed by this work- how big of a space did you work on? (in this photograph there is a little extra bit sticking out of the lower lefthand side, so it makes me wonder if this was actually a bigger drawing) I really do love it, and you earned yourself another follower ^^
